A good exterior paint is all that's required. Most paint manufacturers do not recommend any top or clear coats. I find paint holds up much better than stains. Stains are made specifically for pressure treated woods. For more information it's best to talk to your hardware store's paint experts.

I quit doing that because these are a bit more involved than most people think and they caused a lot of grief. If you have carpentry skills I do sell a digital pattern of the Flat Top Library for you to build for yourself. It's a great starting point and you can alter it any way you like. I'd call it an intermediate level project.
